Introduction to the Qualification

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) qualification can be undertaken by learners who are not yet in a teaching or training role, or by learners who are currently teaching.

This qualification replaced the Level 3 and Level 4 Awards in Preparing to Teaching in the Life Long

Entry Requirements:

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification; Candidates must be 19 Years Old plus.

Learners are expected to have a minimum standard of English at Level 2.

There are elements of written work to be completed as part of the course. This involves researching specific topics, applying theory to practical scenarios and demonstrating knowledge and competency to teach.

What is involved:

The course is made up of three units.

Unit 1 – This unit covers the role and responsibilities of a Trainer/ Teacher.

Unit 2 – This unit covers the practical element of teaching. Learners are required to plan, deliver and evaluate a micro-teach session based on a topic of their choice.

Unit 3 – This unit covers the role of assessment in Education and Training.

Structure:

Learners must achieve a minimum of 12 credits from three mandatory unit groups. Group A is mandatory; Groups B and C contain optional units, some of which are taken from the Learning and Development suite. Group A – 3 credits Group B – a minimum of 6 credits Group C – a minimum of 3 credits

Guided Learning Hours:

The credit value of a qualification can be used to determine how long it will take a learner to achieve, The GLH for this qualification is between 48-61 hours.

Assessment:

The qualification is assessed through the completion of assignments and the delivery of a micro teach session.

This qualifications is undertaken via distance learning allowing you the learner to study in your workplace or at home, at your own pace.
