TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)

The purpose of the TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is for the learner to attain knowledge and practical competences required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations. It provides learners with the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to provide appropriate care and manage life-threatening conditions, minor illness and injuries. Learners will have the knowledge and skills required to provide Emergency First Aid in an occupational setting in a prompt, safe and effective manner to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid Regulations

The Course Duration:

The minimum contact hours of this qualification, excluding breaks, should be for a minimum period of 6 hours over 1 day.

Please note – The recommendation is that learners refresh their knowledge annually. (Previously HSE)

Maximum number of trainees:

It is recommended that the qualification should operate on a ratio of (a maximum of) 12 learners to 1 tutor

Certification:

Upon successful completion all students are awarded a recognised First Aid Certificate* which is valid for 3 years.

Course content includes:

  • .Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • 2. Be able to assess an incident
  • 3. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
  • 4. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • 5. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
  • 6. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock
  • 7.Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries
  • The qualification is assessed via on-going oral questioning and practical demonstration.
